VENRO (Verband Entwicklungspolitik und humanitäre Hilfe deutscher Nichtregierungsorganisationen e. V.) is the umbrella organisation for development and humanitarian asssistance non-governmental organisations in Germany. The approximately 140 member organisations come from private and church-related development cooperation, humanitarian aid as well as development education, public relations and advocacy. Their aim is to achive justice in globalisation, and in particular to overcome global poverty. VENRO is committed to the realisation of human rights and the preservation of natural resources.
The GTO and VENRO
The German Toilet Organization is a member of VENRO and, within the association, is committed to the issues of water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) in German development cooperation and humanitarian aid. The WASH network developed from a former VENRO working group in 2011. Since then, the German WASH network and VENRO have been working together and have published, among others, a joint position paper.
