The students recognise the socio-cultural and natural diversity of the One World through their examination of the various global toilet cultures. The reflection of one's own basic needs on the basis of one's own school toilets promotes a change of perspective and empathy. The effects of missing toilets are linked to global issues such as education, health, poverty and the environment. The global implementation and significance of the human right to sanitation is critically reflected upon. The acquired knowledge is put into practice in the planning of public events and campaigns. The ability to participate and to help shape sustainable development goals is promoted. At joint events on relevant World Days of the United Nations, messages are conveyed to the public and politicians with media attention.

Core elements:

1. A project day at school – conducted by GTO
2. Presentation elaboration by the students - preparation for the action day (World Day)
3. A day of action – a joint public event on a theme-relevant World Day (e.g. World Toilet Day, World Water Day) with all participating school classes.
4. Follow-up visit for evaluation

The project can be well connected to other thematic areas within the framework curriculum, such as diversity, inclusion, health, poverty.
